Another newbie question.

Our eZ publish site has 16 different image "versions" (classes?) defined in the AliasList in image.ini.append.php.

Are these versions generated on upload, or on demand? In other words, does a line such as

{attribute_view_gui attribute=$object.data_map.image image_class=medium}

in a template cause the requested version of the image to be created then and there from the original? Presumably, once the image is created it is stored and re-used?

Also, is "Reference" a synonym for "original image"?

Hello,

You have to see image.ini file in settings folder.

The reference image is the base of conversion and filtering. Yes, when an image is created, it's stored and re-used.

The image aliases are created on demand, and are reused until the image cache is cleared. Something that only happens if you change the image to another one or specifically clears 'Cache for imagealias' on setup page.

"Reference" is the example in image.ini, the idea is that you have several aliases that for instance use grey colour. So "Reference" could be grey and the aliases that also needs to be grey inherit "Reference" as it's original image.
