Hi all,

I'm getting a fatal error when trying to install the weblog package on 3.8.7:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/html/ezpublish-3.8.7-dev/lib/ezxml/classes/ezdomnode.php on line 435
Fatal error: eZ publish did not finish its request

The execution of eZ publish was abruptly ended, the debug output is present below.

I just upgraded from 3.7.6 so that I could install the weblog (I was not sure if I could skip overwriting classes in 3.7.6 so decided to upgrade to be sure I'd had no problems) but it seems like it was all for nothing.

does anyone know how I can install the weblog package manually? I'm a week behind schedule due to the issues with installing this weblog and I really need to get this thing installed or I'm going to get the sack.

Any ideas, workarounds, anything at all will help.

Cheers.

Hi all,

Never mind, there is obviously a bug in the system, it appears that the content classes were installed but the demo data was not, even though it crashes it still gives me enough to work with. As a matter of fact I have completely re-built the class to suit my need anyway, so as it turns out I really didn't need the package at all.

Maybe it would have helped if I knew what the package contained from the start, that is, it would be handy to know what attributes that classes in the package contain, the information given before installing is really quite useless, "this package will install the weblog class". Had I known the weblog class only contained a title, message and enable comments check box I could have had my weblog up and running 2 weeks ago.

A suggestion for package descriptions; include some more comprehensive information about the contents of a package, not just the class name, what about including things like the attributes, datatypes etc, that the class is made up of. This would make it much easier to decide whether or not it is worth installing a package or if you'd be better off just creating it yourself.

Now that I know, I wish I created it myself, but there was not enough information available, so instead I waisted a whole bunch of time looking for solutions to a bug that (now I know) seems to be the kind of bug that makes no sense and in the end doesn't affect anything anyway, aahh, I love Monday's.

Vent complete, solution, don't worry about the fatal error, it's not really an error at all, just something to confuse you, have fun.

Cheers!
