Hi,

I'm testing EzPublish for an intranet solution.
Roles and policies have a major role for our intranet.

Apparently, EzPublish offers a wide range of possibilities for roles and policies but it's very difficult to understand how it works.

For instance, I'd like to limit access for certain users for some forums.
Imagine I have 3 forums :
- Forum 1
- Forum 2
- Forum 3
And 2 users :
- User 1
- User 2

I want User 1 to get access to all forums but he will only be able to read content, reply and edit the messages he wrote.

I want User 2 to get access to Forum 1 and Forum 2 (and not Forum 3), to read content, reply and edit the messages he wrote on Forum 1 and to be a forum administrator of Forum 3.

Is there anybody who can explain me how should I process to have that ?

Is there a documentation on which all roles & policies are explained ?

Thank you,

Gaëlle

Hi,

I think your description of roles is not entirely consistent: if User 2 can not access Forum 3, User 2 can not be the forum administrator of Forum 3.

Anyway, you would have to create two new roles:

The first role would be something like:
1.content read No limitations
2.content create Class( Forum reply) , ParentClass( Forum topic , Forum reply )
3.content edit Owner( Self )

The second role would be:
1.content read Subtree( Forum1 ) , Class( Forum, Forum Topic, Forum reply )
2.content read Subtree( Forum2 ) , Class( Forum, Forum Topic, Forum reply )
3.content edit Owner( Self )
4.content create Subtree( Forum2 ) , Class( Forum , Forum topic , Forum reply ) , ParentClass( Forum , Forum topic , Forum reply )

You can add these policies as follows:
[new policy]->select module "content"->[grant access to one function]->select "read","edit" or "create" and select required items.
