how can I make a general template?

hi, everyone.
My site was divided into five channels: home, blog, gallery, study, news.
Each channel has some sub items. I would write templates for some special items. Then I want to write a general template such as "normal page" to display the similar contents.
It can has a pick of article and an article lists. I know can get the node_id to display its contents. but how to deal with the pick? should I create a pick class ? then how to display the pick?
