Dana,
I'm guessing you're talking about this situation: http://ez.no/developer/forum/install_configuration/parse_error_syntax_error_unexpected_end I'm sorry, but this doesn't look like you provided much detail. If this error had been a common thing to happen, I bet someone would have come up with the answer already. But answering your question: What good is software if it's not supported? In my opinion that you did not get your problem solved does not result from the fact, that this community is unable or unwilling to solve users' problems. However, it ofter requires effort and help from the person that found a problem. The piece of software you're trying to install is a large one, not a simple script. It took me months to learn it good enough to recognize most of hosting-related problems in where I host my installations. And a substantial portion of my questions have never been answered fully or at all, but then I studied things and provided some of the answers myself. In spite of that fact I believe this community is doing a fantastic job that actually is not granted by the GPL license, which I'm guessing you are using.
And if we're talking licensing models, eZ Publish is one of not many open source products that do have support similar to the one known from traditional commercial software: http://ez.no/support/total_product_responsibility_from_ez I hope you do not give up because eZ Publish running and mastered rewards greatly for all the installation trouble and learning time ;)
