I realise that each site must have its individual database set-up but what else?
I truly appreciate any help on this question.

I would suggest to use separate var directories. To do this set the VarDir setting in [FileSettings] in the site.ini.append file for the current site access and point this variable to the new var directory for each site.Everything else can be shared.

Thanks, Jan!
We had a power outtage for 14 hours so I couldn't say my thanks sooner ;-)
would this look like so?
in
settings/siteaccess/testsite/site.ini.append
[FileSettings] VarDir=testsite/var StorageDir=testsite/storageCacheDir=testsite/cache

Jan? No, this is Jo Henrik :)
The StorageDir and CacheDir variables should be relative to the var directory, so the only variable you should change is the VarDir. If this is set to testsite/var then StorageDir is automaticly set to testsite/var/storage.
I hope this works out for you

Maggie did this work for you?

Sorry I mixed up your name, Jo!
And "separate" is the correct spelling.
Hi Hussain.
No I haven't got this to work yet.
Good thing I'm stubborn because this is not "ez" to install ;-)
I'm still trying to set up a separate site with its own admin and user and a separate database sharing one eZpublish installation
I 'm still testing to be sure I haven't missed something simple. I'll be back with more questions very soon!
I sure wish there was a step by step recipe I could follow for this ...

So, how you setup a individual database for each site ?Tha separation of files anda templates is easy, but cant understand how setup multiple databases with one EZ install.
See my other question post at http://ez.no/developer/ez_publish_3/forum/setup_design/how_use_different_databases_for_different_sites_with_some_ez_instalation_

To setup an individual database for each site you need to put the database information in siteaccess/site_name/site.ini.append. There should be no database information in override/site.ini.append.php
