PHP5 version problem

I've got myself a new dedicated server running PHP5.1.6 specifically with eZP 4 in mind.

When I unpacked the 4.0 alpha version of ez and tried to get the installation underway I got a message saying that my version of PHP was not supported.

Do I neeed to upgrade my version of PHP to a newer version or is something else causing the issue?

If I do need to upgrade is there an easy way of doing it? The server is running fedora core 6.

I don't want to break PLESK and can't afford a lot of down time but I'm not an experienced Systems Engineer - just a lowly programmer!

Rather frustrated but looking forward to learning something!

Many thanks

Did you download the alpha2 version?
The minimum version requirement was lowered from 5.2 to 5.1 in that version, but we still recommend 5.2.x for the time being.
