Hi !
I have an "old" website running on eZ Publish 3.8.6 that I want to upgrade to the last 4.x version.
This website isn't translated and he just has 1 public siteaccess and 1 admin siteaccess.
He contains 2500 content objects and no custom extensions/contribs.
I'm afraid about doing this upgrade : 3.8.6 to 3.9.0 to 3.10.x to 4.0.1 because I fear that the version obtained is unstable because of strong evolutions between 3.8.6 and 4.0.1.
Do you think it is better to go through another way of export from 3.8.6 / and re-import into 4.0.1 ?
Thanks in advance !

I'd go with the "classic upgrade", being sure to use 3.10.1 rather than 3.10.0. The other route would probably be more time consuming.

Hi Greg,
Ok, so 3.8.6 => 3.9.0 => 3.10.1 => 4.0.1 like as recomended here http://ez.no/doc/layout/set/full/ez_publish/upgrading/images/ez_publish_releases
And doing 3.8.6 => 3.9.0 and 3.9.0 => 3.10.1 with PHP4 and 3.10.1 => 4.0.1 with PHP5 ?

Hi Sébastien,
I have already made two successfull upgrades from 3.8.x to 4.0.1
If you want to upgrade your existing eZ Publish 3.8.x installation to version 3.9.x, it is recommended to upgrade <b>directly</b> to the latest stable release in the 3.9 branch - which is 3.9.5

Hi,
Ok, I have done the 3.8.6 => 3.9.0 upgrade with success but the 3.9.0 => 3.10.1 fails. So I have to try 3.9.0 => 3.9.5 before 3.9.5 => 3.10.1.
Just a question : before to run sql scripts, whe have to copy the following directory in order to keep custom settings, design and var :
design/example design/example_admin var settings/siteaccess settings/override
But, prior to run the system upgrade scripts, did we have to configure the site.ini to work with the new database recently upgraded ?

I was configure a new settings (with database settings and so on) before any step of upgrading.
Btw, if I good remember I have mede upgrade from 3.8.6 directyly to 3.9.5 (not to 3.9.0) - but I'm not sure at 100%.

It's ok, upgrade done with success from 3.8.6 to 4.0.1 passing by 3.9.0 and 3.10.1.
Thanks all !
