used the latest WAMP and when one checks the console for the version number it gives 5.2.6
Console and httpd/web is two different "exe's" in php, so what version info you get in console is not necessary the same as in the webserver. ( And the other way around ) You can see the versioninfo on the index page for wampserver (usually http://localhost/ )
This is the message I get:

Looks like php isn't running at all. Double check by clicking view source in you browser, if you find php code ther, then php is not running (aka your web server serves the php files as any other text file instead of handling the file over to php).
possibly its yr avatar that contributes to the tone!!! lol
