url vs url_alias

Hi,

Maybe a simply question :
What's the real diffrence between url and url_alias ?

In all aof my template I use {$node.url_alias|ezurl} but I have never see a $node.url different to the $node.url_alias.

I want to make an override condition on the url_alias but I don't know how change the url_alias of a node.

It is possible ? I have test with the Url Translator, the redirect works but the $node.url_alias doesn't change.
