What is the best way to modify eZ publish to allow the nesting of tags? I really need the ability to have nested lists, and in all honesty am quite frustrated that this basic part of HTML isn't supported in eZ publish's core functionality. I would appreciate any ideas on how to rectify the situation. Thanks! Alex

Alex, Have you considered using a text field over a xml text field? A regular text field allows anything. paul

Actually, I hadn't thought of that. I will test it out. :) Thanks! Alex

Hi guys, Totally off-topic here, but I was wondering about the policy on sig. files (including URLs) in the ez forums. I don't mean to criticize you, Paul, but the reason I'm asking is that I've been told earlier (by Tony, I think) that this is a non-advertising forum. If anyone should be allowed to post their URL, it should of course be you Paul (congrats on the ez book, BTW), but if this policy has changed I would like to know as there are several of us who would like to mention our ez-related services. Hope you understand. Sincerely, Eirik Johansen

Eirik,
You are right and i did ask you a few months ago to remove your sig (I have removed this today). Our company has had for a long time a policy of not using sigs on forums. We believed that it was against the rules, so we did not do it. However, several people use sigs in usernames and in forum messages and we felt as no action was taken against them from eZ we would have to follow suite. We feel that it needs to be one rule for all and if some people advertise with sigs on forums then we should be able to. For this reason we have started putting sigs (from today) on our forum posts.

Hi Eirik, Yip, its a thorny issue. We asked eZ earlier today about it and was told we could do this. The reason why we asked is because we keep seeing others 'advertising', and its on the increase. In particular the post from Jonathon earlier today: http://ez.no/community/forum/setup_design/is_there_any_improvement_being_done_on_the_user_interface is filled with advertising. There are lots of other examples :( paul

Hi guys, OK, so I guess that's a "GO" for advertising. Hopefully, since there's still no way to store sigs and have them included automatically in the forums posts, the advertising won't get out of hand. Also, if blunt advertising occurs, this should of course still be addressed. Sincerely,

Hehe :) Im still really not in favour of it but simple sig advertising may be acceptable. Thankfully images can't be included. If eZ doesn't want this they can easily stop it. Of course, if we could add sigs to our messages through our ez profiles eZ could simply check that the sig contained only text, or just a single url, or whatever... paul

We are planning to add sigs to the user accounts. However direct commercial advertisement will be removed from our forums. We've had our policy very open on this. Discussing other products and such is of course ok, but direct advertisement for other products will be removed. --bård

>>Also, if blunt advertising occurs, this should of course still be addressed. I agree, blunt advertising is wrong and is of course not what we want in the forums. We are here after all to help each other and adverts just get in the way.
>>Sigs
That would be good, I seem to remember talking about this at the last summer conference. Anyway its nice to know where people are from and what they look like (sometimes ;-) I now know what Eirik looks like so I can buy him a beer at the summer conference. Are you going Eirik?
